Prince Charlotte and Prince George sibling portrait on their first day of school

In the snap, the siblings stand together in their navy blue school uniforms with both grinning at the camera. George’s smile shows off his missing front teeth.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a photograph of Prince George and Princess Charlotte at Kensington Palace this morning,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. “The photo was taken shortly before Their Royal Highnesses left for Thomas’s Battersea.”

Earlier in the day, photos captured the whole family arriving at the school. It was a particular milestone for Charlotte, who is a new pupil at Thomas’s Battersea. As she walked up to the doors, she grasped her mother Kate Middleton’s hand while playing with her ponytail. George held on to father Prince William.

It was confirmed in May that Princess Charlotte would join her brother at the school. “We are delighted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided that Princess Charlotte will join her elder brother, Prince George, at Thomas’s Battersea,” the school’s headmaster said in a statement. “We greatly look forward to welcoming her and all of our new pupils to the school in September.”
